ED White hasn't had much luck against Riverside recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Commanders will look to defend their home field against the Generals at 6:30 p.m. ED White is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, ED White beat Harvest Community 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Commanders.
Austin Reyes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jamaal Wright was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Nathan LaRosa was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Riverside couldn't beat Andrew Jackson two weeks ago even though they stacked five runs on them in the second inning. The Generals lost 19-9 to the Tigers.
Riverside saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Skipper, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Skipper has become a key player for the Generals: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-9 otherwise. Another was Rylan Covington, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
ED White's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Riverside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: ED White has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Riverside, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given ED White's sizable advantage in that area, the Generals will need to find a way to close that gap.
ED White got the 'W' when the teams last played back in February against Riverside by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Commanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
