Basketball Recap: Cooper Patterson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Capital

Mountain View won against Bishop Kelly last Thursday with 67 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Mountain View Mavericks came out on top against the Capital Golden Eagles by a score of 67-56. For the Mavericks, this counts as revenge for the 74-71 victory the Golden Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Mountain View's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Patterson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. With that strong performance, Patterson is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Starnes, who posted 20 points and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Mountain View and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for Capital, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-2.

Mountain View will challenge Kuna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kuna will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Mountain View surely won't give up without a fight. As for Capital, they will face off against Rocky Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Capital knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Rocky Mountain likes a good challenge.
