The Rock Canyon Jaguars came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 76-65 victory over Highlands Ranch. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Rock Canyon to victory were Brooke Harding and Sarah Davis. Harding scored 20 points along with four steals, while Davis scored 23 points along with three steals. Harding is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Pillsbury, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Rock Canyon pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Highlands Ranch, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rock Canyon will take on Douglas County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Douglas County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for Highlands Ranch, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. ThunderRidge is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
