The Chaparral Cowboys will face off against the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chaparral has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Southeast Career Tech will arrive with five straight wins.
Chaparral fell victim to Desert Oasis and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Diamondbacks, falling 17-0.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Southeast Career Tech and Foothill have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Roadrunners were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over the Falcons. Considering the Roadrunners have won nine games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bea Robinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Robinson was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game.
In other batting news, Aysia Suyat was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Laila Esparza, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Southeast Career Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only posted an OBP of .345.
Southeast Career Tech pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Chaparral might still be hurting after the 22-0 loss they got from Southeast Career Tech in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Cowboys have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
