Breckenridge and Merrill are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Breckenridge Huskies will head out on the road to challenge the Merrill Vandals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Breckenridge entered their tilt with Coleman with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Breckenridge skirted past Coleman 34-31. Given Breckenridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while Coleman is ranked 533rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Merrill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against Vestaburg as Merrill made off with a 42-19 win.
Breckenridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Merrill, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
Breckenridge strolled past Merrill in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 46-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Breckenridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
