If the Jackson Fighting Indians were riding high off their 66-41 takedown of the Scott City Rams on Sunday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jackson fell to Saxony Lutheran 41-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Jackson has scored all season.
It was another big night for Abigail Haley, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals for Saxony Lutheran. Haley hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Evie Caruso was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 15 rebounds and seven blocks.
Jackson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Saxony Lutheran, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Jackson and North County will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Saxony Lutheran will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sikeston at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
