Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Riverdale Country had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Crimson 28-26.
The Pingry School better keep an eye on Ryan Cohen. He was instrumental in Riverdale Country's win, rushing for 160 yards and a pair of scores. Cohen really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run. Another player making a difference was Jake Liston, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one TD.
Riverdale Country didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.
The Pingry School now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Riverdale Country, their record is now 6-1.
The Pingry School and Riverdale Country were almost perfectly matched up in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, but The Pingry School suffered an agonizing 23-22 loss. Thankfully for the Big Blue, James Spiegel (who rushed for 207 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 209 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
