Kingman Academy extended the longest winning streak in Charter 4A this week by beating Westwind Prep Academy, 26-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Kingman Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,310 from 12,172. The improvement came about via a 26-12 victory over the Warriors last week.
Westwind Prep Academy's Nick Galaviz and Jesus Vargas have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Galaviz has thrown for 918 yards this season, while Vargas, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 36 catches for 610 yards. Bill McCord's team's Ty Sherwood leads the league in rushing yards with 411.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on Peoria Accelerated. At the moment, Kingman Academy is in first, while Peoria Accelerated is in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tigers take on Peoria Accelerated. Kingman Academy has allowed 26 points this season, while Peoria Accelerated has given up 93. The Tigers allowed 12 points last week as they beat the Warriors.
