The Elkhart Wildcats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 44-36 victory over Deerfield. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but Elkhart was the better team in the second half.
Leading Elkhart to victory were Madyson Brillhart and Bella Brillhart. Brillhart dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Brillhart scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Brillhart continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Gonzalez, who scored five points along with six steals.
Elkhart pushed their record up to 7-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Deerfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Elkhart will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Moscow at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Moscow is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. As for Deerfield, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Walsh at 4:00 p.m. Walsh comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
