The Northeast Guilford Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 70-59 to Atkins. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (55), Northeast Guilford still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Northeast Guilford saw an underclassman step up: Zayvion Mixon scored 17 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Levi Webb, who scored 17 points.
Northeast Guilford dropped their record down to 7-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Atkins, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast Guilford will take on Rockingham County at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northeast Guilford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Atkins, they will head out on the road to challenge High Point Central at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
