In other batting news, Arianna Lugo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Lopez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for La Joya, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They walked away with an 8-4 win over Economedes on Tuesday. That looming 8-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Coyotes yet this season.
Like Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, La Joya also got a great game from a two-way player: Alexia Guajardo. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those hits marked the first that Guajardo allowed this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jasmin Sanchez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Bianca Guajardo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
With the victory, La Joya broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-9. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
La Joya's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .557.
