Softball Recap: Valley Regional Has No Trouble Against Old Saybrook

While Valley Regional put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Old Saybrook. The Warriors blew past the Rams 12-0. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Warriors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Paige Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Williams was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Valley Regional got a massive performance out of Nataly Pavon-Avila, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits Pavon-Avila has posted since back in April of 2024. Juliana Spencer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five stolen bases and two runs.

Valley Regional pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Valley Regional will challenge rival Portland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Old Saybrook is set to face off against their familiar foe East Hampton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Rams' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
