The Bloomfield Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Sullivan Golden Arrows at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bloomfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Bloomfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on White River Valley with a sharp 29-4 victory on Monday. The Cardinals have beaten the Wolverines the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolverines has come to flipping the script.

Chase Wiles and Breckin Steves were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Wiles pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Steves pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wiles is becoming a predictor of Bloomfield's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 3-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). At bat, Wiles went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Steves got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double. Those three RBI gave Wiles a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dillon Warnick, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with five runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Bloomfield is undefeated when Warnick posts two or more runs, but 2-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeff Porter, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.
Bloomfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Sullivan sidestepped Brown County for a 4-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Arrows.
Sullivan's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bloomfield, their record is now 5-7.
Bloomfield skirted past Sullivan 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
