The La Villa Cardinals had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past Three Rivers 26-24. Winning may never get old, but La Villa sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
La Villa was led to victory by Rey Perez and Brandon Felix. Perez gained 148 total yards and three touchdowns, while Felix rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Felix was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.
La Villa's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Kaufer and 3-6 Premont (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.8% over those games). As for Three Rivers, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
La Villa will head out on the road to face off against Weimar at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. Weimar will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Three Rivers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
