Basketball Recap: Kianti Mcduffie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fitzgerald over Brantley County

Fitzgerald was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brantley County Herons. The Purple Hurricane were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Herons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2017.

Fitzgerald lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kianti McDuffie, who posted 12 points. That's the most points McDuffie has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanorra McKind, who put up 13 points.

Fitzgerald's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Brantley County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Fitzgerald wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 45-42 win against Turner County on the 4th. As for Brantley County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-33 victory against Bacon County on the 4th.
