Even though the Key West Conchs have not done well against the Boca Raton Bobcats recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Key West sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-59 victory over Boca Raton. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Key West to victory, but perhaps none more so than James Osborne, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Osborne has scored at least 25% of Key West's points. Another player making a difference was DeMarcus Deroche, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Key West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Boca Raton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Key West and Miami Christian will face off at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Miami Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 959 points over their last 13 games. Boca Raton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Marathon at 11:00 a.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Marathon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
