The Mars Fightin' Planets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Taylor Allderdice. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mars has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Mars lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Ceh. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Ceh has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 16 times he's played. Austen Wroblewski was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, Mars smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Taylor Allderdice got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Asher Schwartz out in front who scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schwartz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Pavle Slepcev, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Mars' defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Taylor Allderdice, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mars will take on West Allegheny at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Taylor Allderdice, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Obama Academy of International Studies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Obama Academy of International Studies will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 420th, while Taylor Allderdice is ranked 39th).
