The ThunderRidge Grizzlies entered their tilt with the Heritage Eagles with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. ThunderRidge took down Heritage 59-40 on Tuesday. Given ThunderRidge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Heritage is ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
ThunderRidge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Charlie Spann, who scored 19 points. Spann hasn't dropped below 15points for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Tommy Wight, who scored 15 points.
Heritage's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Thompson, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. Jonah Mayoral was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Heritage struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
ThunderRidge's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ThunderRidge will take on Rock Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rock Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday. As for Heritage, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
