Baseball Recap: Smith Vo-Tech Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smith Vo-Tech). Everything went their way against the Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-0 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

Pat Millin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Millin was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Millin is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Jarred Baer was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. James Lavallee also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Smith Vo-Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory keeps Smith Vo-Tech at an undefeated 4-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.0 runs this season. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smith Vo-Tech will welcome St. Mary at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, they will be playing at home against Sabis International at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Beavers are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
