Newcastle (Okla.) put up seven points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 26-3 victory over
Marshall (Oklahoma City, Okla.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Shelton Johnson in the second quarter, the Racers were up 10-3 at the half.
Newcastle grew its lead to 16 points entering the fourth quarter. NHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Casey Freeman touchdown run.
The Racers came into the game allowing 15.3 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Marshall, who notched a 55-7 victory over Bethel in its previous outing. With the win Newcastle extended its winning streak to four games.
Newcastle (6-2) will play a 3A District 3 game against Kingfisher next week, while Marshall (3-5) will take on Oklahoma Centennial also in a 3A District 3 game.
