Wes-Del hasn't had much luck against Madison-Grant recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Argylls at 5:30 p.m. Wes-Del is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Wes-Del came out on top against Tri on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Titans. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by just one run.
Devyn Jaycox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Wes-Del's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Keylie Byrd, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another was Kenzie Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Madison-Grant waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-2 win. The Argylls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Johnna Hiatt and Grace Wood did most of the damage at the plate: Hiatt went 4-for-5 with two RBI, while Wood went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Hiatt has posted since back in April. Carley Holliday was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Madison-Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.
The victory made it two in a row for Wes-Del and bumps their season record up to 12-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Madison-Grant, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wes-Del hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wes-Del came up short against Madison-Grant when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
