South Iredell gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They managed a 46-42 win over the Foard Tigers.
Destiny Bradford had a dynamite game, almost dropping a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaya Jones- McCombs, who posted four points in addition to five boards and four steals.
South Iredell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foard only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Despite the loss, Foard still got an impressive performance from Jessica Bailey, who shot 59% from the field en route to 27 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Bailey has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played.
South Iredell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-27 defeat against Surry Central on the 21st. As for Foard, they have also already played their next game, a 50-27 victory against St. Stephens on the 24th.
