The biggest upset of the week belonged to Shaler Area, who took down 349th ranked Shaler Area, 49-14.
Mack Leftwich and Elijah Zeise provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Butler. The connection was good for 94 yards, the longest such play in WPIAL AAAA Northern Eight this season.
North Allegheny's dynamic duo of Leftwich and Zeise proved tough for the Golden Tornado to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Leftwich threw for 220 yards and four touchdowns and Zeise had 94 yards receiving. Gregg Garrity helped North Allegheny's passing attack out by catching two balls for 44 yards.
Claude Clark was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 58 yards as Butler beat Butler. Thomas Jendesky also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.
North Allegheny's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Leftwich has thrown for 1180 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Garrity has 22 catches for 431 yards. Alex DiCiantis leads the league in rushing with 413 yards.
A big matchup in WPIAL AAAA Northern Eight this week will be when Central Catholic takes on Pine-Richland. The Vikings are currently in fourth, while the Rams are in fifth.
Fox Chapel moved up to 324 from 405 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Foxes were able to make the jump by beating the Titans 49-14.
