Central Mountain is 8-2 against Shikellamy since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wildcats will welcome the Braves at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central Mountain has five straight wins, Shikellamy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Central Mountain lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Selinsgrove, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Seals with a sharp 14-4 victory on Friday. That looming 14-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.
Darius Shade tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Isaiah Maldonado was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Brady Lavelle was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Central Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Selinsgrove only posted an OBP of .308.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Shikellamy's offense. They came up short against Williamsport on Friday, falling 11-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Braves were not able to get on the board.
Shikellamy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Central Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Shikellamy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Central Mountain has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Shikellamy, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Central Mountain's sizable advantage in that area, the Braves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Central Mountain beat Shikellamy 7-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
