Preston hasn't had much luck against Morgantown recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Knights will host the Mohigans at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Preston is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over Liberty on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Myla Wotring was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wotring was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Savannah Goff and Rhylinn Sanders did most of the damage at the plate: Goff went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Sanders went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave Goff a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophie Zinn, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Preston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Morgantown made easy work of Wheeling Park on Thursday and carried off an 8-1 win. The Mohigans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
Like Preston, Morgantown also got a great game from a two-way player: MADISON WISMAN. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. WISMAN has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on KIRA SMITH, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. LIZ ALSOP was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Morgantown's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Preston, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.
Preston might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Morgantown when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
