The Westover Patriots came tearing into Tuesday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Tift County by a score of 40-33. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Westover also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Leading Westover to victory were Anthony Milton and Bryson Carter. Milton scored eight points along with four steals, while Carter scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Traveion Wheeler, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Tift County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corey Howard, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of JJ Lamar, who scored five points.
Westover is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Tift County, they dropped their record down to 9-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Westover will head out on the road to face off against Bainbridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bainbridge and Westover are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Tift County, they will play host again and welcome Thomas County Central, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Thomas County Central is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
