Your season is over. There's still a whole lot to do.
You're a little upset with how this past season went. Or maybe you're ecstatic with how this past season went.
Either way, there is now a list of things that you need to do in order to wrap up this past season, and prepare for next year. I think one of the most important things you can do at this time is to have one-on-one meeting with each of your coaches.
Think of this meeting as being twofold. One, you're doing a kind of an evaluation of each coach. You're wrapping up the 2018 season, and you're looking ahead 2019. I would not have this meeting until after I've surveyed all of my players. That is something I really like to do, and I've written about that here for MaxPreps in the past.
I love meeting with my coaches individually just to get their feel for the season. I also survey the coaches. I will give them a survey and ask them to bring that back to the meeting so we can discuss it one on one. What is the good, the bad, the ugly of what happened this year? This survey becomes our talking points throughout my one-on-one talk with them. Sometimes this talk can be frustrating because you have to let a coach go. If there's one you need to let go, schedule it early, get that out of the way.
These meetings serve as a great time to discuss your season with each member of your staff.

Nothing is better for your program than having this one-on-one time with each coach so that you can figure out how do make this program better.
You can figure out what really worked this year. You can talk about certain aspects of the program that you just did not have enough time to discuss during the year. You can also talk about some goals that your coach did or did not meet. You can also discuss some of goals the program did not meet. You can talk about the calendar flow of the year. Do you guys like how the practice week went? You can talk about the offseason program and what changes need to be made there. You can talk about personnel heading into next season. There are so many things you can talk about leading up to next season.
Speaking of next season, where does this coach fit into your plans? I'm sure there might be some changes you need to make. Maybe it's moving a coach from varsity to junior varsity, Maybe it's the other way around, moving them from JV to varsity. Maybe you need to hire some more assistants because your program is growing. Whatever the case, this is a great time to not only look backwards in evaluating your program, but also to look forward.
