One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. A special shoutout goes to Aurora's senior Baylor Scheierman, who scored seven total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Aurora's 55 - 21 win over Wahoo last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Baylor Scheierman. Scheierman threw for 431 yards and seven touchdowns. That performance made Scheierman one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between McCook and York, 1st and 5th in the power rankings, respectively. McCook got a somewhat close 20 - 13 victory over York. The win boosted McCook a satisfying five spots in the power rankings.
Movin on Up
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Sutton last week (their 3rd in a row). It put the hurt on Freeman with a conclusive 40 - 0 victory. One major factor in the win was the play of senior Brett Simonsen, who ran for 190 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by 17, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Skutt Catholic (9th in the power rankings) and York (5th). Skutt Catholic will be strutting in after a win while York will be stumbling in from a defeat. We'll see if Skutt Catholic can add another positive mark to its record or if York can shake off its loss and take the spring out of Skutt Catholic's step.
