MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Rio Rancho (N.M.) Rams have officially been named to the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its 12th year honoring football.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the
MaxPreps National Rankings. For football, only 50 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 17,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Rams ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
On Saturday, Dec. 3 Rio Rancho capped an undefeated 13-0 season with a 39-17 win over Las Cruces for its second state championship in three years in front approximately 5,000 fans.
The Bulldawgs opened the game with two touchdowns in the first quarter and held an early 14-6 lead over the No.1 seeded Rams. The lead was short-lived as the Rams scored 33 of the game's final 36 points, and outscored the Bulldawgs 18-0 in the second half.

No.12 in the Southwest Region and
No.68 in the nation.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Rio Rancho Rams an invitation to the 12th Annual Tour of Champions.
