This week's postseason action didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. A special shoutout goes to Burke's junior James Burks, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Have a Day
Burke got a 43 - 37 win over Millard West last week, and a key reason for the win was junior James Burks. Burks ran for 304 yards and also punched in five touchdowns. That performance made Burks one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Points Galore
The Pierce offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It strolled past West Point-Beemer with points to spare, taking the game 54 - 34. Pierce especially relied on senior Collin Tinker, who earned three touchdowns and 82 yards rushing the ball, and sophomore Brett Tinker, who ran for 131 yards and also punched in one touchdown. At 88 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Upcoming Drama
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Skutt Catholic (4th in the power rankings) and Gretna (1st). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. Of course, Gretna and Skutt Catholic can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
