MaxPreps Northern California Top 25 high school football rankings

There were no changes in the top six spots in this week's Northern California Top 25 Football Rankings, and Foothill (Pleasanton) made a jump despite being idle.

Tough scheduling remains the norm for ranked programs with more big meetings scheduled for this week, including top-ranked De La Salle visiting No. 11 Del Oro.

1. De La Salle (Concord) (Last week 1) 3-0
Section: North Coast
League: Independent
Result: Beat national power Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.) 56-28 in leading the 11-time South Carolina state champions 35-7 at the half behind QB Anthony Sweeney, who led the offense to 524 yards. Other wins include No. 18 Jesuit (Carmichael) and then No. 6 Serra (San Mateo).
Next: at No. 11 Del Oro (Loomis), Friday.

2. Folsom (2) 3-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) 56-6 after leading by that score by the middle of the second quarter. Jake Browning passed for 532 yards and seven touchdowns, hitting Cole Thompson six times for 279 yards and four touchdowns. The defense has been equally as strong.
Next: vs. Burbank (Sacramento), Friday.

3. Elk Grove (2) 2-0
Result: Beat previous No. 23 Lincoln (Stockton) 29-7 as Spencer Sheff rushed for 116 yards and scored two touchdowns and recorded a safety. Eltoro Allen had a 70-yard kickoff return for a score.

4. Valley Christian (San Jose) (4) 2-0
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Result: Beat Oak Grove (San Jose) 41-14 as Kirk Johnson rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns and the team rushed 49 times for 392 yards and five scores.
Next: vs. No. 21 Milpitas, Friday.

5. Clayton Valley Charter (Concord) (5) 3-0
Section: North Coast
League: Diablo Valley
Result: Beat Cardinal Newman (Santa Rosa) 42-21 as Miles Harrison rushed for 118 yards and a score, Luis Ramos went for 82 and Ryan Cooper 72; Jax Carter had 16 tackles.
Next: vs. Independence (San Jose), Friday.

6. Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) (6) 3-0
Result: Beat previous No. 16 Burbank (Sacramento) 45-28 in leading 35-14 at the half as Andrew Lackowski rushed for 129 yards and a score and Ian Book hit Ryan Sullivan for two touchdown passes.
Next: vs. Reed (Sparks, Nev.), Friday.

7. Foothill (Pleasanton) (13) 2-0
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay
Result: Idle, though the earlier 42-6 win over San Leandro resonates since San Leandro just beat Logan (Union City), which just beat No. 14 San Ramon Valley (Danville).
Next: vs. Castro Valley, Friday.

8. Grant (Sacramento) (8) 3-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Delta
Result: Beat Bullard (Fresno) 28-14 as De Shawn Collins rushed for 269 yards and four touchdowns and the Pacers had six sacks, two by Chris Atteberry.

9. Granite Bay (10) 2-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat Freedom (Oakley) 27-13 as Cameron Smith returned an interception 30 yards for a score and Cedric Johnson sealed it with a late fumble recovery.

10. Bellarmine (San Jose) (13) 2-0
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Result: Beat San Leandro 28-17 behind defensive leaders Curt Calomeni and Anthony Guttadauro a week after beating No. 24 Franklin (Elk Grove) by scoring the final 28 points of the game.
Next: vs. Piedmont Hills (San Jose), Friday.

11. Serra (San Mateo) (7) 0-2
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Result: Lost at Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) 24-14 as star RB Kava Cassidy went down early with injury. The other setback was 41-13 to No. 1 De La Salle.
Next: vs. South San Francisco, Saturday.

12. Del Oro (Loomis) (14) 1-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat state-ranked Vista Murrieta (Murrieta) 22-15 as Trey Udoffia scored on two long touchdown passes from Logan Hurst and sealed it with a 55-yard interception return for a score. The other losses were to San Diego No. 1-ranked Helix (La Mesa) 34-10 in the Honor Bowl and to Hawaii power Kamehameha on a late score.

13. Vacaville (16) 1-1
Result: Beat Northern Section No. 1 and MaxPreps NorCal No. 19 Enterprise (Redding) 44-22 as Chad Hekking passed for 199 yards and two touchdowns, Daveon Harris rushed for 155 and two scores. Other loss was 24-23 at No. 6 Oak Ridge.

14. San Ramon Valley (Danville) (9) 2-1
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay
Result: Lost to Logan (Union City) 28-23 despite 258 yards and two touchdowns by Zack Baker a week after beating No. 15 Pittsburg.

15. Pittsburg (11) 2-1
Section: North Coast
League: Bay Valley
Result: Beat Monte Vista (Danville) 29-0 as Keith Walker passed for 170 yards and two touchdowns and Nick Moore ran for 153 and two more. Lost to No. 14 San Ramon Valley (Danville) 27-20 in double overtime after opening with a 19-7 victory over No. 16 California (San Ramon).

16. California (San Ramon) (12) 2-1
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay
Result: Beat Castro Valley 49-10 as Justin Locklear rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns. The loss was to No. 15 Pittsburg, 19-7.

17. Rocklin (21) 3-0
Result: Beat rival Whitney (Rocklin) 62-14 in the Quarry Bowl in front of a packed-in crowd of 6,000 as Riley Clark rushed for four touchdowns and Max O'Rourke passed for two.

18. Jesuit (Carmichael) (18) 2-1
Result: Beat Christian Brothers (Sacramento) 48-21 in the Holy Bowl as Beau Bisharat scored three touchdowns and Cole Brownholtz was again steady at QB. The loss was to No. 1 De La Salle.

19. Enterprise (Redding) (15) 2-1

League: Eastern
Result: Lost to No. 13 Vacaville 44-22 in what was a close game for three quarters, as the Northern Section No. 1 team traveled some four hours to play. Justin Abney passed for two touchdowns and Isaiah Matthews ran for two.

League: Diablo Foothill
Result: Beat Washington (Fremont) 49-7 as Jack Stephens passed for 234 yards and four touchdowns.

Result: Beat Newark Memorial (Newark) 54-7 in leading 48-0 at the half.

Result: Beat Menlo Atherton 35-7 as Dru Brown passed for 206 yards and two touchdowns and Joey Wood ran for 82 and three scores. Beat then-No. 7 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose) 21-13 in an opener.

Result: The Monarchs were idle, having lost their opener to No. 22 Los Gatos 21-13.

Result: Beat Casa Grande (Petaluma) 43-3 as Lamar Jackson moved over from quarterback to tailback and rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns and Reid Abshear had four sacks.

League: Peninsula Bay
Result: Beat Riordan (San Francisco) 14-7 as Mason Randall passed for 127 yards and a touchdown and Andrew Robinson scored on a run.

Result: Beat Vista del Lago (Folsom) 31-25 as Caden Voges passed for 433 yards and four touchdowns and Lonny Powell recorded five sacks and scored on a 65-yard run.

TIE 25. St. Mary's (Stockton) (25) 2-0
Result: Beat Central Catholic (Modesto) with 29 seconds left as Noah Righetti scored on a bootleg in another exciting game in the long-standing Holy Bowl rivalry.
