LONG BEACH, Calif. - the Jackrabbits had a big 28-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 54-16 victory over Millikan (Long Beach, Calif.).
Long Beach Poly scored on a touchdown run by
Manusamoa Luuga, a
Eban Jackson II touchdown pass to Luuga, a
Gerard Wicks touchdown run and a touchdown run by
Dalton Anderson in the quarter.
LBP was up 34-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Jackson II touchdown pass to
John Smith in the first quarter.
The Jackrabbits expanded their lead to 40 points entering the fourth quarter. Long Beach Poly scored two times in the third, including once on a defensive touchdown.
Wicks played well for LBP in the victory. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
Dean Duggan played well for the Rams. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
Led by
Iman Marshall, the Jackrabbits entered the contest giving up 20.0 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding Millikan right around its season average of 16.7 points scored per game.
A 54-0 Long Beach Poly victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
With the win the Jackrabbits extended their winning streak to four games.
In a Moore game next week Long Beach Poly (5-3) takes on Woodrow Wilson, and Millikan (0-8) will go up against Lakewood also in a Moore game.
