The high school football season in Wyoming came to a close over the weekend with championship games in five classifications. Cody not only captured the Class 3A title in impressive fashion but also finished No. 1 in the final state MaxPreps Top 25 rankings.
The Broncs beat Jackson Hole 34-13 on Saturday to win their sixth state championship in school history and third since 2014. Cody, which jumped out to a 26-0 lead at halftime of the title contest, also beat Jackson Hole 48-6 back on Oct. 23.
Following a loss to Star Valley (Afton) on Oct. 9, Cody went on a dominant run to end the season with five consecutive victories and an average winning margin of 33.6 points per game.
Under head coach Matt McFadden, Cody has become one of Wyoming's top programs. The Broncs are 33-9 since 2017.
At the Class 4A level, East (Cheyenne) avenged its only loss of the season in beating Thunder Basin for the title. The victorious Thunderbirds check in at No. 6 in the end-of-season rankings.
