Three out of four isn’t bad, and that’s how Utah teams fared against Idaho in the Rocky Mountain Rumble.
In the end, the only team from Utah that lost was Highland, and it looked like it was losing to itself when Highland of Idaho won 19-17 on a last-minute field goal. (Both Highland schools have the same mascot (Rams) and even the same colors.)
Bear River downed Minico 31-21, Sky View dominated Lake City 41-7 and Mountain Crest edged Pocatello 28-21 behind QB Alex Alex Kuresa for the three Utah victories.
Ogden moves to 4-0
With the football season nearing the halfway point, most of the separation between contenders and pretenders has been determined. But Ogden coach Eric Eyre is either doing the coach speak or still trying to figure it out for himself – even after the Tigers blasted Ben Lomond 56-0.
Nik Allred posted 328 first-half total yards (267 passing, 61 rushing) as Ogden scored 49 points in the opening 24 minutes to improve to 4-0.
"I still think we have a ways to go before we can be mentioned among the top teams even in our region," Erye said. "But in my opinion our region (which includes Mountain Crest and Skyview) is the toughest in the state, and our goal is to compete for a region championship."
Ogden opens region play Friday against Logan.
