Appreciation is a virtue. The MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard quickly learned this after honoring HeadCoach Dale Mueller and the Highlands Bluebirds football team.
The Highands Tour of Champions ceremony took place at a formal team banquet on Sunday, January 27th in Newport, KY…we’ll never shy away from an invitation to a good meal! But this afternoon was solely focused on the amazing achievements of this 15-0 championship team.
Prior to the ceremony, the Kentucky Army National Guard provided gifts to each player. After receiving Tour of Champions t-shirts and Army National Guard iPod speakers, the athletes took their seats as MaxPreps’Steve Spiewak addressed the crowd. Spiewak, a Tour of Champions veteran, reflected on Highlands’ tremendous season, including a huge victory over Trotwood-Madison (a game that Spiewak took in, first hand). Sgt Gary Moss of the Kentucky National Guard had the distinction of presenting Coach Mueller with the Tour of Champions trophy, soon thereafter.
Thanks and praise shone through, from the first time I called Coach Mueller to notify him of Highlands’Tour selection, to the actual trophy presentation. Highlands is a team that takes pride in their team, their coaching staff and their community. I mentioned appreciation before…Coach Mueller and his team absolutely appreciated the Tour and we definitely appreciated their hospitality. Being only one of two teams honored in Kentucky, MaxPreps is proud to name Highlands our number 21 team in the nation!
