Video: Preseason # 11 - American HeritageSee highlights of last year's Florida power. Florida may be the Sunshine State, but powerhouse
American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) isn't feeling it right now.
Torrential rains have hammered south Florida and left the Patriots' football field and athletic facilities looking better suited to host the swim team. With some areas receiving up to 4 inches of rain in a day, American Heritage's athletic fields were sitting in about 18 inches of water, as seen in the photos by WPBF 25 News.
Summer school classes were cancelled and officials aren't certain when the fields will drain as drought-busting thunderstorms are forecast through next week in south Florida.
American Heritage captured the Florida Class 5A state crown last fall and finished the season as the No. 10 team in the
Xcellent 25 rankings. The Patriots feature a loaded bunch led by the country's top-rated cornerback in 5-star
Patrick Surtain II — and they should be a Top 25 squad when the national rankings come out this summer.
