See the Blessed Trinity player in action as part of a 34-game winning streak.Winning streaks are fairly short-lived in baseball. To prove the point, only one of the teams with more than 20 straight wins last year is still on the list at the start of the 2016 season.
That team is St. Cloud Cathedral, which is the national leader for consecutive wins with 50 in a row. The Crusaders have won two straight state championships and have put together 25-game win streaks in 2014 and 2015.
Several teams with long streaks from 2015 have already fallen. Last year's national champion Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) had a 26-game win streak entering the 2016 season, but lost its first two games. Buford (Ga.), the Georgia Class 4A state champion, had a 25-game win streak snapped on Monday.
Only seven teams still have win streaks of 20 or more games as of March 1.

St. Cloud Cathedral (Minn.), 50
The Crusaders finished the 2015 season with a 25-0 record and their second-straight Class 2A state championship. In 2014, St. Cloud Cathedral lost its first game of the season and then won 25 straight. Last year, coach Bob Karns, who is entering his 46th year as the Crusaders' coach, was named the National Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.), 34
The Titans opened the season 2-2 last year, then won 31 straight to claim the Georgia Class 3A state championship. Blessed Trinity has opened the 2016 season with three straight wins.
Campbell (Litchfield, N.H.), 31
After winning its last 11 games in 2014 and all 20 of its games in 2015, Campbell is the owner of a 31-game win streak and two straight Division II state titles in New Hampshire. Campbell is a long way from the state record, however. Portsmouth, which also holds the national record,
won 89 straight games from 2008 to 2012.
West (Texas), 30
The Trojans opened the season with a win last week. Couple that victory with the 29 straight West won to finish the 2015 season and West has 30 in a row. West is the defending Class 3A state champion in Texas and one of the favorites to win it again in 2016.
Knappa (Astoria, Ore.), 27
The Loggers captured the Class 2A/1A state championship in Oregon with an undefeated record of 27-0. That total was the most wins for any team in the nation that finished undefeated.
Rye (Colo.), 25
The Thunderbolts finished 25-0 in 2015 and claimed the Class 2A state championship in Colorado. Rye also went undefeated in 2011 and has only six losses in the five seasons in between those two undefeated years.
Hoosic Valley (Schaghticoke, N.Y.), 22
After a loss early in the season, Hoosic Valley won 22 in a row to win the New York Class C state championship last season.
