With nine new starters this season, DeSoto coach Claude Mathis warned it might take some time to get his offense up to speed.
But if break-in time is needed, three opponents haven't noticed. DeSoto is averaging 50 points and 514 yards per game following its latest victory, 61-35 over Trinity (Euless) on Saturday.
DeSoto, a Class 5A Division I state semifinalist a year ago, climbed two rungs to No. 2 in this week's MaxPreps Texas Top 25.
Allen (3-0) remains No. 1.
Many thought Trinity and its traditionally stingy defense would be a test for DeSoto, but senior quarterback Desmon White accounted for six first-half touchdowns, leading the Eagles to a 54-14 halftime cushion.
The Eagles rolled to a 46-7 opening victory over Martin (Arlington), which has since won twice, and followed it up by waltzing past Oklahoma power Union (Tulsa) 44-20.
Here's the MaxPreps Texas Top 25 following Week 2 games.
