The 2025-26 school year has been a good one for
Wall, a small school in West Texas. The football team went 16-0 with a state championship, the volleyball team reached the Conference 3A final four, the boys basketball team is 20-5 and leading the district and the girls basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the state.
Now the baseball team is getting in the mix with a No. 1 ranking in the Preseason Small Town Top 25. The defending Conference 3A Division 2 champion, the Hawks edge
Southern Fulton (Warfordsburg, Pa.) and
North Stanly (New London, N.C.) for the top spot in the rankings.
Wall returns the Conference 3A player of the year in
Gage Reichenau. The senior pitcher posted 101 strikeouts last year while earning a spot on the Small Town All-American team. The Hawks also return all-state players
Hagyn Barbee and
Kellan Oliver in the outfield. Barbee and Oliver will also join Reichenau in the pitching rotation.

Southern Fulton comes in just behind Wall. The Indians won the Class 1A state championship in Pennsylvania last year and return five starters and 18 pitching wins from that team.
North Stanly ranks third after losing just two games last year (26-2) and returning multiple players who are ranked among the best in North Carolina by Perfect Game. No. 4
Gordon Lee (Chickamauga, Ga.) returns half a dozen players who made all-state or all-region honors during last year's state championship run. No. 5
Cherryville (N.C.), meanwhile, returns every starter from a team that posted 20 wins.
To be eligible for the Small Town Top 25, schools must have less than 1,000 students in town with a population under 10,000. Teams are ranked based on last year's finish, program tradition, number of returning starters, player honors and last year's statistics.
