For the first time ever in Colorado the 4A and 5A state football championships will be webcast LIVE on the internet this Saturday.
The internet is where high school sports are being seen more and more these days. Colorado has just signed on to the video revolution which is taking place on the internet. Every sport, large or small, will now have the opportunity to share a sporting event live or taped on the new site that has been developed by CHSAA (Colorado High School Activities Association). In the school year for 2010 and 2011 there will be more than 50 state champion events which will now be webcast on
www.CHSAA.tv. This will also include the State Spirit Championships which are also taking place this weekend.
Not everyone will be able to make it to Invesco Field this Saturday to watch Wheat Ridge battle Valor for the 4A crown, or Regis take on perennial power Mullen in the 5A match, however, now friends, family, former players will have the chance to take in the action wherever they are in the world as long as they have a high speed connection. As an added benefit all four games will be available for free On Demand on CHSAA.tv whenever anyone wants to view or review the games.
John Rein is the Relationship Manager for PlayOn! Sports Colorado, the company behind the new web revolution for high schools. John was recently asked what the vision for Colorado was. He replied, "Not every school is going to make it to the state finals in a sport that will automatically be picked up by CHSAA.tv, so we have created an opportunity for schools to create their own sub-site on CHSAA.tv so they can post whatever event they would like to share. This could be student created and it doesn't have to be sports. Drama, debate--whatever the school approves we will post. We just want to give kids a chance to show their best work--and we have the equipment and video portal to enable them".
So, if the trip to Invesco is not in your plans this Saturday, log on to
www.CHSAA.tv and watch the four best 4A and 5A teams in the state battle it out on the grid iron. And if football is not what you are seeking, then the state Spirit Championships (2A,3A,4A,5A) will be taking place that evening LIVE on CHSAA.tv.
The video revolution has arrived in Colorado and you can watch it on CHSAA.tv.
