MaxPreps Student Section"We want to be undefeated, and anything less than a CIF championship will be disappointing." These bold words of Chaminade's football coach, Ed Croson, sum up the expectations from the coach as he expects his football team to win it all. The Eagles have started out 2-0 with wins over Venice and Valencia respectively. Coach Croson has made this mentality a realistic one with his fantastic coaching ability and the addition of a new blue turf. Croson has coached for over twenty years and knows what it takes to win with many city and league championships under his belt. The Eagles do not only have a brilliant coach to their advantage, but their new blue turf has brought a larger home-field advantage to
Chaminade (West Hills, Calif.). Croson reflects, "The blue turf brings a positive, different, and sense of uncertainty to our games. It is a beautiful field that should bring some advantages in the long run."

Now, Coach Croson cannot expect his team to win it all unless he truly believes his players are capable of it, but he really does. "I have confidence in all of my guys as we got the experience needed to make a deep run in the CIF," says the coach. The Eagles have sixteen returning players on the varsity team, a clear advantage against their opponents. Not only that, but Croson believes, "We have a lot of things riding in our favor. First, our team has got intellect and can outsmart the other teams. Also, we got great team chemistry making us a dangerous team." The Eagles truly have been dangerous, finishing 11-2 last season, including a semifinal appearance in CIF, and have started off their season undefeated thus far. With three televised games this year, Coach Croson and the Eagles are finally going to get the publicity they deserve. "We have to beat Serra, Alemany, and Notre Dame, and they will be a good test for us to see if we are capable of winning it all," Croson says. All three of these teams are also highly ranked, so if the Eagles can beat them, they will be in good shape. With a lot of momentum shifting the Eagles' way, Coach Croson and the rest of the Eagles are hoping they can bring back the first football CIF championship in school history.
