The Oakland Tribune reported this week that track standout Sasha Wallace is transferring from
Holy Names (Oakland, Calif.) to
Castro Valley (Calif.).
Last spring as a junior, the 5-foot-8 Wallace won state championships in the 100-meter hurdles (13.33) and triple jump (41-5 3/4). At that point, she was the national leader in both events. She later was named Gatorade California Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
The family explained that she is transferring for academic and financial reasons. They have lived in Castro Valley for the past five years.
