The Illinois Lutheran Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 55-18 loss at the hands of Wilmington. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Illinois Lutheran in their matchups with Wilmington: they've now lost three in a row.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Illinois Lutheran struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-4) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Wilmington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle Farrell out in front who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Farrell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Rink, who scored ten points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Illinois Lutheran's defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Wilmington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Illinois Lutheran will take on Heritage Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Illinois Lutheran in their respective states (Heritage Christian is ranked 317th in Indiana, while Illinois Lutheran is ranked 727th in Illinois). As for Wilmington, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Clifton Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th.
