Deanna Knobloch does not enjoy being in the spotlight – but this time the Moorestown girls lacrosse coach had to accept some of the accolades.

Now in her 21st season, Knobloch has reached yet another milestone as her Quakers gave her win No. 400 Saturday in a season-opening 8-3 triumph over Strath Haven. The win gave Knobloch an unimaginable record of 400-29-4.
"There's no doubt I take pride in this milestone," she said. "But there's no way I could have accomplished this without the help of so many other people. I have been lucky for the past 21 years to have amazing assistant coaches, phenomenal players and outstanding support from parents and the community. That has allowed me to accomplish a goal."
The weather was dreary for the game and the Quakers badly outshot the Panthers, who played solid defense and kept the game competitive.
Marie McCool scored four goals and
Stephanie Toy added a pair for Moorestown.
Last year Moorestown failed to win the Tournament of Champions title for the second-straight year after claiming the crown from 2000-09. The Quakers lost by one goal to two-time champion Ridgewood last year after being shocked by Shawnee in the playoffs the year before.
"Our goal of winning the Tournament of Champions is always the same year-in and year-out," Knobloch said. "This team is hungrier than ever to get to that point and I have no doubt that we can get there if we stay together as a team and work extremely hard."
Notre Dame Prep is rollingNotre Dame Prep improved to 4-0 after an impressive 13-5 victory over John Carroll Friday in the IAAM. Coach Mary Bartel said her team is beginning to jell.
"We have a group of scrappy kids. It has been a process and I think it will continue to unfold. Friday was certainly a wonderful win for us."
Bartel pointed to senior defender
Elisa Liberto, goalie
Mary-Sean Wilcox (headed to Florida) and senior midfielder
Hannah Hartman (Notre Dame) as the keys to the early success
