High school basketball rankings: Duncanville makes big jump in first regular season MaxPreps Top 25

The initial regular season MaxPreps Top 25 high school basketball rankings include nine teams not featured in our preseason rankings released a little over a month ago. Duncanville (Texas) was the biggest riser, going from unranked to No. 6 after wins over Legacy School of Sport Sciences (Spring, Texas), Westlake (Austin, Texas), Yates (Houston, Texas) and Ypsi Prep Academy (Ypsilanti, Mich.).

Preseason No. 5 Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.), No. 13 West Oaks Academy (Orlando, Fla.), No. 18 Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (Chattanooga, Tenn.), No. 22 Milton (Ga.), No. 24 Houston (Germantown, Tenn.) and No. 25 Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.) each dropped out of the rankings after losses.

Preseason No. 6 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and No. 7 Coronado (Henderson, Nev.) also dropped out of the national rankings after Clark County made the decision to cancel winter sports seasons altogether.

Preseason No. 20 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) is also notable in its absence. The Trailblazers are set to rejoin the national rankings when their season tips off in mid-March.

Ten teams featured in this week's rankings have yet to begin their season. Approximately half the states across the nation have yet to begin play due to COVID-related delays. MaxPreps Top 25 High School Basketball Rankings

The top-ranked team from the Tar Heel State picked up another quality win over the weekend, taking down St. Louis Christian Academy (St. Louis, Mo.) 59-55.

Senior forward Michael Foster Jr. has carried the Bruins to a dominant start, averaging 32.4 points, 19.2 rebounds, 7.3 blocks and 3.8 assists per contest.
