Minor (Adamsville) scored 17 runs in the first inning last week to beat Erwin 32-6 in a high school baseball contest played at Birmingham. Minor didn't set a state record with the outburst. The Tigers didn't even set a school record. Minor beat Ensley in 2002 37-0.

LeFlore (Mobile) in a Mobile prep baseball contest 39-32 to set an Alabama high school record for most runs scored in a game. The Rattlers scored 22 runs in the first inning but lost the five-hour contest when the Leopards rallied for 22 runs in the fifth inning.
LAMAR SLUGS 7 HITSAdam Lamar of
Lauderdale County (Rogersville) slugged seven hits in a doubleheader sweep of Lexington last week. He was 4-for-4 in the 13-1 opener with a homer and two doubles. He also pitched the five-inning win allowing four hits and striking out eight. He came back in the second game to collect three hits.
* Zach Justice slugged a homer for the fourth consecutive game to lead
Slocomb to a 10-4 win over Ashford in a Wiregrass battle of 3A schools last week. Clay Holmes pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts to get the win and Justice pounded a two-run blast.
* John Hutto drove in seven runs for
Northview (Dothan) in a 17-7 win over G.W. Long of Skipperville. He had just two hits but one was a grand-slam.
BENJAMIN RUSSELL GOES 6-0 TO WIN LAKE MARTIN CLASSIC After two straight years of finishing second, the host Wildcats went 6-0 last week to win the annual Lake Martin Classic prep baseball tournament.
Russell (Alexander City) (13-4) scored three times in the first inning of Friday's championship game with Smiths Station, and William Parks held the powerful Panther offense at bay to lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 win. The victory capped a perfect 6-0 performance at the tournament for BRHS (13-4) and gave the team eight straight wins overall. The Cats lost in the finals in 20010 and 2009. Parks, a senior, scattered six hits and struck out two to get the shutout.
PRATTVILLE STREAK ENDS AT 15The Lions (16-1) saw their season-opening 15-game winning come to an end in the Lake Martin Classic as Tallassee beat
Prattville 11-6 on Thursday.
BYRD FLIES HIGH IN SOFTBALL HITTING SPREEBailey Byrd was 5-for-5 in a 23-7
Providence Christian (Dothan) softball win over Geneva County last week. She scored four runs, had four singles and a homer and drove in five runs in the win. Teammate Brooke Segler had three inside-the-park home runs and seven runs batted in in a 12-11 Providence win over Malone a few days later. Byrd also had an inside-the-park homer with three RBIs.

Rogers (Florence) slugged two triples and drove in three runs in an 18-1 softball win over Sheffield in a game played near Florence. The Pirates improved to 8-1 with the victory.
ERNEST OFF TO HOT START Homewood senior sprinter Aaron Ernest turned in three super performances in the recent Hoover Open Invitational outdoor track meet. He turned in a season best 10.72 in the 100 meters, a personal best time of 21.66 in the 200 and also had a season-best long jump of 23 feet, 7 inches – all tops in Alabama so far this outdoor prep season. He ran 10.88 to win the Vestavia Hills King of the Mountain competition as well.
