Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2022-23 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Kailey Woolston of
Lone Peak (Highland) is the 2022-23 MaxPreps Utah High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The 5-foot-11 senior guard led the Knights to a 23-3 record and second straight Class 6A state title.
For the season, Woolston averaged 20.7 points, 81 rebounds and 2.1 assist per game. She raised her game in the state tournament, averaging 25 points per game including 33 against Corner Canyon in the second round.
