1. Katy
2015 record: 36-6
Head coach: Meghan Brown

The Tigers are in the enviable position of graduating zero starters from a Class 6A state championship club. Junior pitcher Kourtney Coveney compiled a 30-4 record and batted third in the order, one spot higher than sophomore third baseman Kayla Garcia. At state, Katy had 3-2 wins over The Woodlands in the semifinals and Lewisville in the finals. Katy's only previous state appearance was a runner-up finish in 2007.

2. Lewisville
2015 record: 28-7
Head coach: Lori Alexander

Seven starters return, including LSU signee Maribeth Gorsuch, who pitched Lewisville to a state title in 2013 and to the finals a year ago when her season record was 22-4. The speedy Farmers also rely on the keystone combination of Tommi Goodman and Kaylee Rodriguez. Gorsuch, the team's top hitter, was making a comeback last season after being struck in the face by a batted ball in a summer league game. She suffered a fractured eye socket and cheekbone.

3. Pearland
2015 record: 23-7
Head coach: Laneigh Clark

Among the Oilers' November haul of eight college scholarship signees is 6-foot-2 pitcher Alyssa Denham (Louisiana Lafayette) and first baseman Sydney Gutierrez (Georgia). Denham was 21-3 with a 1.11 ERA last year. Pearland has a solid tradition, advancing to the postseason in 20 of 21 seasons and twice winning a state title. The 2015 campaign ended in a one-run regional quarterfinal loss to Brazoswood (Clute).

4. Midway (Waco)
2015 record: 27-3
Head coach: Ed Trochim

Seven all-district performers in 12-6A return for newly promoted head coach Ed Trochim, including pitcher Chandlar Coskrey, co-MVP Taylor Ellis, offensive MVP Rhein Trochim and defensive MVP Morgan Ling. Last season's playoff run ended in a 3-2 regional semifinal loss to Lake Travis (Austin). Midway, a two-time state champion, has 10 state tournament appearances.

5. Keller
2015 record: 26-6
Head coach: Bryan Poehler

Six three-year starters return and the Indians should be solid in the circle with pitcher Kaylee Rogers (24-4). Letter-of-intent signees include outfielder Kennedy Legg (Ole Miss) and first baseman Shelby Henderson (Lamar). Keller's 2015 season ended in regional final series loss to Lewisville in 2015.
