After closing out the regular season Friday with a 62-46 win over Ben Davis (Indianapolis), Tech opens the Indiana Class 4A state tournament Tuesday against Lawrence North (Indianapolis).
7. (8) La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.), 23-2Head coach Alan Huss took his troops across the border and picked up a pair of wins in Canada over the weekend. The latter came against a team of hastily thrown together standouts from Hamilton, Ontario, and La Lumiere trailed for much of the contest before notching a double-digit win.
8. (10) Greater Atlanta Christian (Norcross, Ga.), 31-0The Spartans will meet Calhoun on Friday for the Georgia Class AA state title. GAC enters the contest riding a 49-game winning streak dating back to last season.
9. (11) Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.), 33-1Casey Benson scored 24 points to lead the Aztecs to a 71-70 overtime victory over Pinnacle (Phoenix) in the Arizona Division I state title game Saturday. The dramatic win gave Corona del Sol its third crown in as many years.
10. (12) Apple Valley (Minn.), 27-1The Eagles will meet Cretin-Derham Hall (St. Paul) on Thursday in the Section 3-AAAA final. A win there would likely make Apple Valley the top seed in next week's Class AAAA state tournament at the Target Center.
