Christyn Williams is a McDonald's All-American Most Valuable Player.
The 5-foot-11 left-handed guard from
Central Arkansas Christian (North Little Rock, Ark.) had 22 points and added 11 rebounds, leading the West to an 82-79 win over the East in the 17th annual McDonald's All-American Game Wednesday at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta.
Williams, a Connecticut signee, made all four of her 3-point tries in the first half when she scored 16 points, igniting the West to a 47-40 lead. The winners stretched the lead to 13 in the third quarter before holding on late. She was the only player on her squad to score in double figures or record double-digit rebounds.
Williams made 9 of 15 shots from the field and added four of her team's 24 assists.
"I just tried to play confident," Williams told a live television audience on ESPN at halftime. "I'm just letting the game come to me."
Queen Egbo, a 6-3 forward from
Fort Bend Travis (Richmond, Texas), added nine points, seven rebounds and four big blocks for the winners. She scored back-to-back buckets after the East closed the gap to 78-72.
Egbo was one of seven girls from Texas to play in the game. She's one of four All-Americans headed to Baylor.
Madison Williams, a 5-10 forward from
Trinity Valley (Fort Worth, Texas) had 13 points,

Destanni Henderson, of
Fort Myers (Fla.) contributed 10 points for the East.
